About the Author
Hi! I’m Nanet, the author of Pret Sonder Skerms. I have a background in Engineering and Fun :D. The idea for this series came to me when I saw kids glued to their phones, and I thought, “How on earth do you entertain this generation, so influenced by screens?” That’s when the concept of activity books, not just educational but FUN, was born!
But it’s not just me—big thanks to my entire family, occupational therapists, primary school teachers, and of course, the moms and ‘tannies.’ Special shoutout to my cousins, who gave each activity a “funness” rating!
Meet Oupa Jakkals
Oupa Jakkals is a clever and sneaky jackal who loves adventure. One day, while trying to steal eggs, the farmer catches him, and as he escapes, he notices the world is changing – plastic bags, polluted rivers, and tired trees.
Worried, Oupa Jakkals realizes he must help save the world, starting with children. He believes kids are smarter and cuter than grown-ups, so he hides in activity books to teach them how to protect the Earth and its animals. With lots of tricks and fun, Oupa Jakkals shows that if kids can find him, they can help save the world!

Our History
Version 1
Created during the COVID-19 pandemic this series originally featured numerous Velcro activities. However, the high cost of materials led to a shift toward more affordable solutions.
Version 2
Designed in 2022, this series reduced the use of Velcro for better affordability. However, the extensive number of pages still impacted the overall cost.
Publicated
Designed in 2024 and publicized in 2025 with BK Publications. This series now excludes Velcro to make it even more affordable. New games were carefully developed to ensure they remain fun and educational.

2020-2024 Pret has undergone a few changes, with the biggest being our logo. Our original logo, designed by my husband, was where the idea for Oupa Jakkals first came to life.
